The professional, international and specialized Fair in biomass technology that Valladolid hosts annually closed its 10th edition, on September 24, with a final count of 15,041 visitors. A lower figure than that registered last year and far from the objective set by the Spanish Association for the Energy Valorization of Biomass (AVEBIOM), organizer of the exhibition, when it announced the call.
For AVEBIOM, the drop in the number of visitors compared to other editions translated into a more specialized and better informed visitor profile, a factor with a very clear impact on an even greater professionalization of the fair, although less crowded. The reading made by the organizers of the exhibition is that the professional profile rises, while participation falls.
In any case, and despite the decline in relation to expectations, Expobiomasa is consolidating itself as the professional event that occupies a prominent place in the ranking of the 5 best fairs in the sector worldwide, as it has been cataloged in more than one occasion by AEBIOM (European Biomass Association).
However, AVEBIOM assumes the decrease in visitors as a negative figure that can clearly be improved, which is why the Expobiomasa team considers the need to reconsider some aspects of its strategy, as well as intensify certain actions aimed at attracting professionals, in order to to future editions.
Portugal: the invited and most represented country
70% of the professionals who came to Expobiomasa came from outside Castilla y León, while in the regional framework, only the province of Valladolid contributed 13.8% of the visitors. As it is a very professional-oriented fair, the participation of visitors from Castilla y León has fallen by half compared to the last edition, while professionals in the sector from the rest of the autonomous communities have increased by 3%, and The international presence has increased by 15% compared to the previous edition. In 2015, Expobiomasa registered professionals from 32 nationalities, 5% of which came from Portugal, the guest country in this edition.
Regarding the impact of the event in Valladolid, the hotel sector once again hung the 'Complete' sign, for another year, even bringing forward the celebration of the event by a month, a decision that avoided the coincidence with other events in the city.
