EMPRENDEbiomasa rewards a social integration project through the use of biomass

The EMPRENDEbiomasa conference held within the framework of the Expobiomasa Fair has been a complete success in calling for entrepreneurial ideas.

At the beginning of the day, the ideas presented were selected by the attendees themselves to obtain 5 finalist ideas. These ideas were developed with Lean Startup methodologies to be able to present them to the jury in the afternoon.

The winning idea was Biosavia, a project by Iván Maldonado to socially integrate disadvantaged groups by taking advantage of the biomass generated by cleaning mountains and gardens.

A special mention from the jury went to the Bioestibas project, by Colombian Álvaro Vásquez, which uses biomass from flower waste along with natural resins to make pallets.

The other finalist ideas were Social Pellet by Alfonso Vélez, Slowambiental by Jaime Ros and Telepellets by Nazaret Crespo.

The jury was made up of Isabel González Barragán, professor at the INEA agricultural engineering school in the areas of construction and plant production; David Sánchez, head of the Evaluation and Biofuels Service of the CENER Biomass Department; Pablo Martínez, from the INIA-Uva University Institute for Sustainable Forestry Research; Miguel Ruiz-Gálvez, head of biomass at Veolia Spain; Elías Hernández, Technical Director and Business Development at Gestamp Biomass; and Jorge Herrero, director of Expobiomasa.

The winners will have special dissemination of the project at the national level by the Biodiversity Foundation in its Emprendeverde Network; technical advice on products and processes by CENER; 6 months of workspace in the Via Lab Coworking incubator; free consulting for business creation, provided by Sanjuán Abogados&Consultores; and 6 months of membership without fees to AJE Valladolid.
