The first three companies to obtain the IBC quality seal – Certified Biomass Installer

The president of the Spanish Association for the Energy Recovery of Biomass ( Avebiom ), Javier Díaz, presented this morning to the representatives of CALORDOM, GEBIO and ERBI the ' Certified Biomass Installer' (IBC) seal, which makes them the first three Spanish companies to obtain this certification.

“A brand that guarantees quality and specialization in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of biomass thermal installations,” according to Díaz in an event that took place at the headquarters of the National Confederation of Associations of Plumbing Companies. , Gas, Heating, Air Conditioning, Fire Protection, Electricity and Related (Conaif).

The president of Avebiom has highlighted the importance of “committing to offering the client guarantees of quality and control of the facilities and being able to differentiate in the market the companies that carry out their work professionally.”

According to data from the Ministry of Industry, in Spain there are more than 30,000 companies trained to carry out thermal installations in buildings (RITE). According to estimates from the National Biomass Observatory, which Avebiom has managed since 2009, 27% of these companies have operated with biomass equipment at least once.

At the end of 2018, almost 300,000 biomass installations for thermal use were operating in Spain. Most of them are small power equipment, stoves and boilers of less than 50 kW for the domestic heating sector.

Certification

This seal has been launched in collaboration with the Construction Institute of Castilla y León (ICCL), which acts as a certification entity throughout the national territory. ICCL, as an external certification entity, provides the model developed by Avebiom with the guarantee of impartiality, technical competence, transparency and confidentiality necessary throughout the entire certification process. The scope of the certification extends to the entire value chain, including the design, assembly, operation, maintenance and repair of facilities.

The technical director of ICCL, Felipe Romero, and the person responsible for certification of this entity, Javier Vielba, stated that this certification “was born with a national vocation, so that very soon it will allow offering quality guarantees through companies of all of Spain.” In fact, they said, the first three certifications “already reflect this trend, given that they are companies from Andalusia, Madrid and Castilla y León.”

To obtain the seal, installers have to meet a series of requirements defined in the 'Quality Charter' regarding their organization, degree of specialization, demonstrated experience, conditions of service provision, response to the client, the availability of qualified technical personnel and the available material resources.

This 'Quality Charter' includes, among other requirements, the commitment to inform the client of the ideal conditions in which the installation and maintenance must be carried out, as well as to advise on choosing the most efficient technical solution; and the obligation to provide a detailed invoice in accordance with the approved budget.

To access the certification, the company must have technical personnel with proven experience on staff and be registered in the regional registry of installation companies.

The technician, for his part, must meet the training, experience and specialization requirements established in the Professional Profile applicable to his specialty. The certified organization will have a procedure for handling complaints and claims from its clients.
