According to AVEBIOM, the scams that the association already reported in November 2014 continue to occur, in which several Spanish pellet-producing companies have been victims of fraud due to the impersonation of their brand. During these last weeks the scam attempts have been continuous. These people contact potential buyers, on behalf of these companies, to make a sale that is not ultimately consummated. The scam on clients materializes when they make payment for a purchase of pellets that has not really occurred.
According to the association, a fact that may catch our attention and indicate that we are being victims of this fraud is that the prices are extremely low and out of the market (100 euros). Furthermore, in some cases, the scammer is saying that he works for AVEBIOM, in addition to the production companies.
The affected companies have already reported the cases of fraud to the relevant authorities, so the facts are now being investigated and in the hands of Justice.
AVEBIOM recommends pellet buyers to remain alert for possible scam attempts. To avoid this type of deception, it is very useful to contrast the information that comes to us from unknown emails, or with a domain that does not correspond to the company it claims to represent, as well as verify the authenticity of the identity of the people who establish contact. To do this, and in case of any doubt, it is best to call the official headquarters of the company in question and request confirmation of the information received, in addition, of course, not to make any payment before verifying that the transaction has been carried out with the right person and company.
AVEBIOM requests all companies and users to contact the association if they are aware of any case of this type.
