The Spanish Association for the Energy Recovery of Biomass (AVEBIOM) has recently joined the European campaign “Biomass Counts”
The 'Biomass Counts' campaign was launched by the European Biomass Association (AEBIOM) in December 2014 to balance the current debates on the use of biomass by showing the reasons why the sustainable use of biomass should count. in the political debate of the European Union.
The main objective of the campaign is to clearly distribute the message that biomass plays a unique role in a strong and competitive low carbon economy. Biomass is and will continue to be a vital component of our energy mix in the medium and long term.
The campaign is based on 4 main messages; biomass counts as a component of our future energy mix; because it contributes to reducing our energy dependence on fossil fuels; because it creates jobs and encourages growth in rural areas; and because it allows us to confront energy poverty by improving economic competitiveness
The campaign also focuses on the needs of the bioenergy industry to ensure the continued growth of the bioenergy sector. This includes, among other things, the need for an EU strategy or action plan focused on the heating and cooling sector and the definition by the EU of harmonized and legally binding sustainability criteria.
Anyone who wishes can support the campaign and adhere to its objectives here
