The Association of Heat and Cold Network Companies (ADHAC) has presented once again the 2016 Heat and Cold Network Census. The day took place at the IDEA headquarters and was attended by representatives from various institutions and companies.
74% are 'renewable networks'
The census has recorded data from 306 networks, which is 59 more than in 2015, with a total installed power of 1,219 MW. The census networks supply energy to more than 4,000 residential, commercial and industrial buildings and have an extension of more than 550 km. 74% of the census networks continue to be supplied by renewable energy, mainly biomass. In terms of distribution, Catalonia is the community that has the greatest presence, both in absolute terms and in terms of installed power.
Among the future challenges that the sector faces is the incorporation of air conditioning networks as the most efficient technological alternative and presenting the networks as an efficient alternative in Spanish municipalities (DUSI Strategies and FEDER Funds). Furthermore, the search for financial solutions for investment in infrastructure is another important challenge, as well as increasing participation in new technological projects. For ADHAC, the sector must also catalog the opportunities for developing new networks in the coming years and seek the participation of its partners in the identified feasibility studies and in Government purchasing centers. Finally, ADHAC points out the incorporation of network projects in the European Fund for Strategic Investments (Juncker Plan).
The inauguration of the census presentation event was carried out by Pedro Prieto, director of Savings and Energy Efficiency of the IDAE, who highlighted the importance of the census and the evolution it has had in recent years. Next, the president of ADHAC, Miguel Armesto, spoke, welcoming those present and highlighting the interest aroused by the annual presentation of the census, becoming a must-see event for the air conditioning networks sector. He also made a presentation of the advantages of the air conditioning networks for energy efficiency, emissions savings and wealth generation.
Immediately afterwards, the general secretary of ADHAC, Javier Sigüenza, presented the 2016 network census, ending the day with the intervention of Miguel Manrique, head of the Energy Transformation Department of the IDAE, who presented the “Study of the Potential of Use of efficient urban heating and cooling systems” recently carried out by the IDAE.
