The Spanish Association for the Energy Recovery of Biomass (Avebiom) joins the trend of most EU countries to guarantee the quality of biomass installation companies and has launched the first 'Certified Biomass Installer' seal (IBC). “It is a brand that guarantees the quality and specialization of companies in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of biomass thermal installations,” as explained by the president of Avebiom, Javier Díaz.
“The objective is to offer the client guarantees of quality and control of the facilities and to be able to differentiate in the market the companies that carry out their work professionally,” stated the president of Avebiom during the presentation of this seal, which took place today at the headquarters of the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE).
Furthermore, he has indicated that this seal will mean the launch of a registry of certified companies, which will be available to users, with the possibility of measuring customer satisfaction through a direct evaluation system.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Industry, in Spain there are more than 30,000 companies trained to carry out thermal installations in buildings (RITE). According to estimates from the National Biomass Observatory, which Avebiom has managed since 2009, 27% of them have operated with biomass equipment at least once.
In 2017 there were nearly 250,000 biomass installations for thermal use, according to Avebiom data. Most of them are small power equipment, stoves and boilers of less than 50 kW for the domestic heating sector.
The seal has been launched in collaboration with the Construction Institute of Castilla y León (ICCL), which acts as a certification entity throughout the national territory.
To obtain the seal, installers have to meet a series of requirements defined in the 'Quality Charter' regarding their organization, degree of specialization, demonstrated experience, conditions of service provision, response to the client, the availability of qualified technical personnel and the available material resources.
This 'Quality Charter' includes, among other requirements, the commitment to inform the client of the ideal conditions in which the installation and maintenance must be carried out, as well as to advise on choosing the most efficient technical solution; and the obligation to provide a detailed invoice in accordance with the approved budget.
To access the certification, the company must have technical personnel with proven experience on staff and be registered in the regional registry of installation companies.
