The Alcalá de Henares City Council and the Alcalá District Heating company have signed and presented the renewable energy project 'Alcalá Eco Energías', an urban heat network for the distribution of heating and domestic hot water, whose energy is obtained from renewable sources such as biomass and concentrated solar energy.
The project aims to transform Alcalá's energy model in the medium term through the use of solar panels and urban heat and thus supply the city through renewable energy. This will be possible thanks to concentrated solar thermal technology supported by a biomass power plant.
Its use could potentially reach 12,000 homes in the city, as well as numerous companies, and will mean a considerable reduction in the energy bill. Those who wish to or consider beneficial may join this initiative.
They attended the event; the mayor, Javier Rodríguez Palacios, the first deputy mayor and Councilor for Heritage, Olga García, the Councilor for the Environment, Alberto Egido, and the General Director of Alcalá District Heating, Teo López, who have shown their satisfaction with the signing of this agreement for the city.
