600 companies from 30 countries will meet starting tomorrow at Expobiomasa 2017

Expobiomasa 2017, the international fair organized by the Spanish Association for the Energy Recovery of Biomass, AVEBIOM, brings together more than 600 companies and firms in the biomass sector from 30 countries starting tomorrow in Valladolid. The event, which will be held at the fairgrounds in the Castilian-Leonese capital between September 26 and 29, will have an economic impact of almost four million euros in the region. Of them, 70% correspond to service companies (rental of exhibition devices and services, construction of stands, hiring of hostesses, operators, etc.), 25% to hotels and restaurants; and the remaining 5%, to transportation.

The event, one of the benchmark events in the sector worldwide, will occupy an area of 34,000 square meters in its eleventh edition, which is 30% more than in the previous edition.

According to AVEBIOM estimates, more than 18,000 professionals interested in purchasing equipment, products and services will attend the fair, around 40 associations and allies and professionals from more than 60 media outlets from Europe, Latin America and North America.

Hotel occupancy in the city will reach 100% during the four days of the fair. And the Provincial Association of Hospitality Entrepreneurs of Valladolid has launched a tapas and menu route in 37 restaurants and bars, thanks to an agreement signed with AVEBIOM, to offer the best offers to all people who visit Expobiomasa.

The 11th International Bioenergy Congress
Within the framework of the fair, the International Bioenergy Congress will be held on the 27th, which has become, after 11 editions, the technological benchmark for the sector at the national level. This year there will be speakers fully involved in the digitalization of their companies, which are at the same time pioneers, because they understand that society increasingly demands more personalized, economical and sustainable services and products.

Mexico
It should be noted that on the 26th a business round will take place to put Mexican professionals in contact with European companies interested in exploring new business relationships. 15 Mexican entities will participate (14 companies plus the Mexican Petroleum Institute) and 21 directors or shareholders of SMEs and large companies from eight states of the country, which operate in different sectors. Among them, a large construction company, a large food company (the third snack brand in Mexico), biofuel producers, engineering companies looking for know-how, as well as producers and marketers of pellets and machinery interested in representing European firms and industries. wood and board companies with a certificate of sustainable origin, which aim to give greater value and use to forests

UVA
Also on the 26th during the opening of the contest, the 'Fomenta la Bionergía Award' will be presented to the University of Valladolid for its actions and investments aimed at promoting and highlighting the energy benefits of biomass.

Furthermore, in the sessions planned in the parallel program of Expobiomasa 2017, issues such as the new certification in biomass installation, the expansion of distributed heat networks, the keys to the implementation of energy services, the energy use of biomass in African projects, ENplus certification, biogas expectations, Mediterranean biofuels certification, energy rehabilitation, urban regeneration, energy efficiency and decarbonization of buildings and solutions for the food industry.

Biomass
Since the previous edition of Expobiomasa, in 2015, thermal biomass in Spain has broken records in the number of stoves and boilers installed. Even with last year's low heating oil prices, biomass is much more competitive. The number of installed equipment, which is also increasingly more efficient and innovative, has grown by 56% in this period, boosting a business that already amounts to 3.7 billion euros, which represents 0.34% of GDP.

The use of biomass as a source of thermal energy prevented the emission of 121,955 tons of CO2 in the province of Valladolid in 2016, equivalent to the carbon dioxide generated by 81,303 vehicles during a year, thus contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gases in Spain. In Castilla y León, the figure reaches 859,156 tons of CO2, equivalent to the carbon dioxide of 572,769 vehicles.

According to data from the Biomass Observatory, Castilla y León had 31,138 biomass installations at the end of 2016, 5,769 more than the previous year (22.8%), with an installed power of almost 1.4 million KW.
