Since 2009, AVEBIOM has promoted the National Observatory of Biomass Boilers ( ONCB ), a tool to quantify with the greatest possible rigor the figures of modern biomass installations with the collaboration of the main manufacturers, distributors, installers, administrations, associations and users. The decrease in the price of heating oil and the mild winter last have not slowed down the growth of the installation of biomass equipment in Spain because the consumer values, above all, price stability and the unbeatable local environmental values that it provides. the use of biomass.
Currently, the ONCB has documented a sample of 48,650 references and 3,875 MW of installed power, which has made it possible to estimate accumulated national figures, until the end of 2015, of 160,000 installed equipment and a power of 7,275 MW. Compared to the previous year, these data have grown by around 25% in number of equipment and around 20% in power. The estimated ratio for Spain is 0.15 kW of installed power per inhabitant, still very far from the 1.5 kW/inhabitant presumed, for example, in some Austrian regions.
Evolution by user groups
The main consumer group in terms of the number of installations is residential, but we want to mention that the number of installations for public, industrial and service sector uses is also growing at a rate of 25% annually. Of all the facilities, the evolution of the Heat Networks and the promising forecasts in this area stand out.
Evolution in the number of distributors and installers
The ONCB sample includes 245 manufacturers from a total of 28 countries with equipment installed in Spain. The AVEBIOM Observatory also stores information on 1,100 registered installers, 20% more than last year.
