The first hotel in Seville to use biomass for DHW and heating

The Pasarela Hotel is the first hotel in Seville that uses biomass as an energy source for the production of domestic hot water and heating.

The project, developed by the Sevillian company specialized in energy services Genesia , has made it possible to replace the fossil fuel boilers with two 95 kW automatic biomass boilers, polyfuels for chips, pellets or olive pits. The pneumatic feeding system supplies fuel to a silo with a capacity of 35 m3. The boilers have a nominal efficiency of 94%.

The expected savings in fuel is about 12,000 euros per year, and the recovery period for the investment without subsidies is 8 years. With the improvement in the energy rating, the hotel goes from having a “D” rating to “B”, with an emissions reduction of 98,803 kg Co2/year.

The energy use of this organic waste helps conserve our environment, creating local jobs and benefits us with significant economic savings compared to fossil fuels.
