Open vote to choose the best innovative biomass practice of 2022

Up to 25 candidates have been submitted to the INtercamBIOM 2022 Award for the Best Innovative Practice with Biomass, organized by the Spanish Biomass Association and the CIRCE Technology Center. Between February 22 and March 18, anyone can vote for their preferred candidate; The winning practice will receive support from the INtercamBIOM network in the form of dissemination to increase its visibility and possibilities of adoption by interested agents.

Progressing on the path towards a more sustainable, low-carbon society by taking advantage of all the dimensions of the bioeconomy requires charting new paths and gradually modifying the way we use resources, produce consumer goods and manage by-products.

The bioeconomy covers the agricultural, livestock, forestry, and fishing fields and the transformation of their products into processed foods, materials, bi-products, consumer goods or energy services.

 

An award to extend the use of innovative practices in bioeconomy
The award for innovative practices organized from the INtercamBIOM network by AVEBIOM and CIRCE aims to publicize practices that are already available , ready to be adopted and give birth to new businesses, but that They are still little known.

The INtercamBIOM website will display the 25 participating innovative practices from February 22 to March 18. Visitors will be able to consult them in detail and participate in a public vote , distributing up to 5 points among those they consider most interesting and with the most future.

The selection of the best innovative biomass practice of 2022 will conclude with the announcement of the winner on April 5 . The public vote will have a weight in the final score of 50%, while the remaining 50% will be carried out by a technical jury that will deliberate on the degree of innovation, the problem it can be solved and the economic, environmental and social viability of the candidatures.

The jury will be made up of the managers of the INtercamBIOM Network (AVEBIOM and the CIRCE technology center) and a group of experts among the network's advisors, made up of agents from the agricultural and forestry sector (ASEMFO – National Association of Forest Companies and Agri-Food Cooperatives from Spain); innovation promotion entities (CTA – Andalusian Technology Corporation and the Institute for Competitiveness of Castilla y León – Enterprise Europe Network); and specialized scientists (Renewable Energy Development Center – CEDER-CIEMAT).

 

25 practices in bioeconomy that can help us be more sustainable
Among the 25 practices candidates for the award, automatic inventory systems for forest masses have been presented; management of forestry smallholdings with difficulty in bringing together all owners through legal entities such as management boards; innovative drying and cleaning methods and processes for the adaptation of agricultural and forestry biomass; unprecedented applications in agribusiness; new combustion, gasification systems and modular plants; automated pellet transfer and quality control systems; digital systems for the control and efficiency of biomass facilities; dispensers for bulk biomass vending; new ranges of bioproducts such as biocarbon or biobased polyurethane foams.
