As reported by Expobiomasa in its latest newsletter, Bsis Bionergy has launched a GIS platform that reports on the availability of chip supply. The platform aims to offer a global vision of the possibility of sustainable supply of wood chips and competition for this resource in the European Union. The idea is to advise biomass plant promoters on the availability and sustainability of this raw material.
To build the platform, data on production potential and large chip consumers have been collected (the database has brought together 3,000 references of power generation plants and thermal boilers above 1 MW, paper mills, board factories, pellet mills ). All of this has been georeferenced in an intuitive and easy-to-use GIS (Geographic Information Systems) application, which has been published for online consultation on December 3 on the project website
That same day, a workshop organized by AEBIOM was held in Brussels to discuss the principle of “cascading”, or pre-established prioritization of the uses of biomass, which bioenergy associations oppose, arguing that it should be the real market that establishes these usage priorities.
Business to Business
A B2B (Business to Business) platform is available on the project website, which aims to connect companies in the biomass sector throughout the European Union to increase their visibility internationally and thus increase their business. Interested companies can register for free here.
