Expobiomasa 2017, the international trade fair organized by the Spanish Association for Energy Valorization of Biomass, AVEBIOM, will bring together more than 600 companies and firms from the biomass sector, from 30 countries, in Valladolid between September 26 and 29, in an area of 34,000 square meters, which is 30% more than in the previous edition.
Since the last Expobiomasa in 2015, thermal biomass in Spain has broken records in the number of stoves and boilers installed. Even with last year's low heating oil prices, biomass is much more competitive. The number of installed units, which are also becoming increasingly efficient and innovative, has grown by 56% during this period.
4750,000 tons of pellets
Regarding pellet consumption, the most in-demand biofuel for domestic use, it has increased from 350,000 to 475,000 tons in the last two years. “This represents a real business opportunity for a sector that already generates eur3.7 billion in revenue in Spain, 0.34% of GDP,” explains Jorge Herrero, director of Expobiomasa.
“Expobiomasa is the showcase for a strategic sector that is evolving and growing at a very good pace in Spain. The fair—professional, international, and specialized in biomass technology, a leader in Eur—has become, over the years, the professional benchmark for the sector, also for Latin America,” Herrero points out.
Since 2006, thousands of professionals from 60 countries, representing the entire value chain, have visited the Valladolid Fair.
11th International Bioenergy Congress
will be held on the 27th as part of the trade fair. After 11 editions, it has become the leading technological event in the sector nationwide. This year's congress will feature speakers fully committed to the digitalization of their companies, which are themselves pioneers, understanding that society increasingly demands personalized, affordable, and sustainable services and products.
In addition, the sessions planned in the parallel program of Expobiomasa 2017 will address issues such as the new certification in biomass installation, the expansion of distributed heat networks, the keys to implementing energy services, the energy use of biomass in African projects, the ENplus certification, the expectations of biogas, the certification of Mediterranean biofuels, the biomass business in Mexico, energy rehabilitation, urban regeneration, energy efficiency and decarbonization of buildings.
