Major players in the agribusiness sector continue to rely on Sugimat for their biomass energy generation equipment. In this instance, San Miguel Arcángel, the largest olive pomace processing plant in Eur, has contracted Sugimat for the design, manufacture, and turnkey installation of a water-tube steam boiler for burning olive pomace. This biomass, a byproduct of the olive oil extraction process, is characterized by its high calorific value.
The boiler, with a steam production of 15 tons/hour and an equivalent thermal output of 11 MW, will feature the Ecknokessel design from ERK, a leading German company specializing in boiler engineering and technology. Sugimat is the company's sole licensee in Spain.
In addition to the boiler, Sugimat will supply the combustion system with a moving grate, the company's own technology, the control system and the flue gas treatment to guarantee the quality of emissions to the atmosphere.
The plant will also feature a novel machine vision system applied to combustion. This system, developed by Sugimat, allows for real-time adaptation to changes in fuel characteristics.
This boiler, with a guaranteed operating time of 8,000 hours per year, will replace existing equipment and will also allow for significant savings in current diesel consumption, as it will use the extracted pomace as biomass for energy generation.
