Overpressure valve for Junkers ZW24 boiler 87074010270

The overpressure valve is a very important component in a boiler.

If the valve is not working properly, dangerous pressure levels could be reached in a domestic boiler.

Excessive pressure within the system could cause the boiler or water pipes to burst. If the temperature and pressure inside the boiler are within the normal range of 1.5 to 3 bar and the safety valve is leaking, it indicates a faulty Junkers

Replace the faulty valve immediately.

Step 1

Turn off the boiler. In many cases, the boiler will have a switch. If not, unplug it from the power supply

Also close the fill valve that supplies water to the boiler system. This step is extremely important. Wait for the boiler and the water to cool down.

Step 2

Drain the water from the boiler to reduce the pressure by opening the boiler's drain valve. Observe the pressure gauge on the boiler. When the pressure reads zero, close the valve to stop the water from draining.

Step 3

Connect a pipe wrench to the boiler's safety valve. Loosen the valve and remove it from the boiler. If the valve has a drain pipe connected, remove the drain pipe before removing the valve.

Step 4

Wrap Teflon tape around the two lower threads of the new valve.

Turn the new valve onto the boiler and tighten it with a pipe wrench. Make sure it's straight and pointing in the same direction as the old valve. Reconnect the drain pipe if necessary.

Step 5

Open the fill valve to refill the system with water and restore power to the boiler. Bleed the air from the system by opening the bleed valves on your radiators. For most radiators, a screwdriver is required to operate the bleed valves. Check for leaks at the newly installed valve.
