Reolum wins 46 MW renewables in the government's third auction 63621c91ac84a

Reolum, a company specializing in the promotion and development of renewable energy, has been awarded 46.1 MW in the third energy auction held yesterday by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO). The contract was awarded for biomass technology at a price of €106.25/MWh.

Reolum's proposal consists of a biomass plant, with a capacity of 49.9 MW and an annual electricity production of 370 GWh, on the former grounds of the La Robla Thermal Power Plant (León) , a town with a long tradition in industrial development and energy generation.

In parallel and based on its philosophy of promoting a just transition, a synergistic auxiliary network will be generated with the Reolum plant, both industrial and service-oriented , which will help to mitigate the risk of demographic loss as a result of the successive closures of coal-fired thermal power plants in the area.

The La Robla biomass plant will bring significant innovations that will improve both its efficiency, reducing production costs , and its environmental value. The latter, already enhanced by the use of biomass, which minimizes the risk of fires, maintains the phytosanitary quality of forests, and promotes their sustainability, will be further strengthened in the Reolum project thanks to the introduction of several pioneering technical improvements.

Biomass power plants, known as "baseload plants," can replace gas-fired power plants to stabilize the grid and support other, more intermittent renewable energy sources eur decarbonization goals
