The residents of an emblematic building of 71 homes near the famous fountain of the Abelardo Sánchez Park in Albacete have managed to increase the energy efficiency of their heating and domestic hot water (DHW) systems by changing their old diesel boilers for biomass boilers .
Remica Servicios Energético has been the company in charge of renovating the boiler room; an improvement with which it is estimated that residents will be able to save around 40% on their energy bill, while the emissions of polluting gases generated by the installation will be reduced.
The old equipment (two diesel boilers of 1,250,000 Kcal and 209,000 Kcal) have been replaced by two biomass boilers, a 300 kW Firematic and a 500 kW Biomatic of the HERZ that will use pellets as fuel to meet the needs heating and hot water for the entire community of neighbors.
Although the inhabitants of the building will continue to enjoy the same degree of comfort, the pellet has several advantages over diesel since it is a fuel that does not give off such strong odors and is cheaper and more environmentally friendly, as it is generally manufactured from waste materials from the wood processed and converted into biofuel.
In addition to the two biomass boilers, the installation has been completed with an inertia accumulation system of 8,000 liters in one room, in order to accumulate the energy from the boilers.
With this project, Remica becomes the first energy services company to carry out a biomass installation in Albacete in a building with more than 50 homes.
