70% reduction in energy costs thanks to a 500 kW biomass boiler

German boiler manufacturer Heizomat has installed a 500 kW RHK-AK-504 biomass boiler at a nursing home in Artés (Barcelona), replacing two oil-fired boilers of 300 kW and 100 kW. Thanks to the new biomass boiler, energy costs have been reduced by approximately 70%. The nursing home, which recently renovated the building, has now doubled its capacity to accommodate residents.

The silo has a capacity of 90m³ and is filled by gravity at a regular rate of 30m³ every 15 days. The boiler operates fully automatically, just like the oil-fired one. This boiler uses unscreened, locally sourced wood chips.

Heizomat, one of Germany's leading manufacturers of biomass boilers, has recently opened a subsidiary in Spain. Located in Teulada (Alicante), its facilities showcase everything from the chipping of various types of biomass using Heizomat's chippers to a biomass boiler manufactured by the company itself, which runs on wood chips from local pruning waste. This subsidiary also provides support to Heizomat's various distributors throughout Spain.
