The University of Córdoba, Technological Corporation of Andalusia, the Andalusian Agency of Energy and Prodetur participate, in collaboration with the Association of Renewable Energy Producers and 4 Portuguese Entities, in the eurOpeo Biomasstep project, which will be financed by the EurOpea Commission within the Interreg Poctep trans -border cooperation program.
The Biomasstep project, with a budget exceeding 600,000 eur and two years, aims to develop and transfer to bioenergetic companies of an innovative NIR technology ( Near-Infrared Spectroscopy) for the rapid and economical analysis of the quality of native biomass of the cross-border area. The project, which has just been approved, is led by the University of Córdoba.
The Portuguese partners of the project are the University of Évora, AreanaTejo, LNEG and AREAL.
Through the characterization of native biomasses by official methodologies, the Biomasstep project aims to carry out the optimization and development of a rapid, non-polluting and innovative analytical methodology, based on the application of NIR Technology, for the prediction of quality parameters of these wastes. Furthermore, it aims to transfer the tool developed to enhance the innovative capacity of the activities of companies in the sector, so that the research results are commercially exploited and allow added value to be generated (quality biomass). Finally, we want to create a cross-border network between research centers, universities, public administrations and companies to promote the use of quality biomass.
