The University of Cordoba, the Technological Corporation of Andalusia, the Andalusian Energy Agency and Prodetur are participating, in collaboration with the Association of Renewable Energy Producers and 4 Portuguese entities, in the eurBiomasstep project, which will be financed by the EurCommission within the Interreg Poctep cross-border cooperation program.
The Biomasstep project, with a budget exceeding eur and a duration of two years, aims to develop and transfer an innovative NIR ( Near-Infrared Spectroscopy) for the rapid and cost-effective analysis of the quality of native biomass in the cross-border area. The project, which has just been approved, is led by the University of Córdoba.
The Portuguese partners in the project are the University of Évora, AreanaTejo, LNEG and AREAL.
Through the characterization of native biomass using official methodologies, the Biomasstep project aims to optimize and develop a rapid, non-polluting, and innovative analytical methodology, based on the application of Near-Infrared (NIR) technology, for predicting the quality parameters of this waste. Furthermore, it aims to transfer the developed tool to enhance the innovative capacity of companies in the sector, so that the research results can be commercially exploited and generate added value (high-quality biomass). Finally, the project seeks to create a cross-border network among research centers, universities, public administrations, and companies to promote the use of high-quality biomass.
