According to forecasts, the twelfth edition of this fair will feature more than 500 exhibitors, who will present the latest in technology, design and features to the 15,000 professionals who will visit the fairgrounds, eager to see and purchase equipment that offers solutions to an increasingly demanding and better-informed consumer.
4.5 million stoves in Eur .
In recent years, some 4.5 million high-efficiency biomass stoves and boilers have been installed in Eur , according to data from the 2017 EPC survey. These appliances, along with the more than 315,000 professionals dedicated to solid biomass, have enabled the sustainable use of locally sourced biomass, instead of consuming the equivalent of approximately 98 billion liters of heating oil. Biomass, the most important renewable energy source in eur , will allow us to be self-sufficient for 43 days this year.
Given this growing market, Expobiomasa has evolved in recent years to become one of the five most important events in the sector worldwide. It represents a commitment to a market that still offers many opportunities in Spain and Portugal, as well as a link between eurtechnology and Latin American professionals. This event, which has grown with each edition, aims to help leading companies consolidate their position in the market as an alternative to manufacturers of fossil fuel technology and the lobbying power of multinational electricity companies.
Biomass, a key player in the bioeconomy.
It is a fact that biomass is gaining ground year after year in the Spanish energy mix. New biomass stoves and boilers have experienced significant growth in recent years, primarily for one reason: the substantial cost savings this solution offers compared to fossil fuels or the exorbitant cost of electricity. Biomass represents considerable savings for families, businesses, and government agencies alike.
The forestry sector in Spain, as is already the case in Eur, welcomes the fact that increased sustainable biomass consumption will help mobilize significantly more wood and contribute to overcoming forest abandonment. And for industry and service companies, it is virtually impossible to find another energy technology that so consistently aligns with the principles of the Circular Economy, controlling operating costs, and managing byproducts.
The traditional use of biomass in Spain remains prevalent in a large part of rural society, as well as in the agri-food and forestry industries. Around 12% of heating energy is generated from biomass. Of that percentage, 30% comes from newer, more modern, technologically advanced, and automatically fed stoves and boilers that bring clean, renewable energy to cities and the service sector as well. This figure barely reached 8% 10 years ago, according to information provided by www.observatoriobiomasa.es
Just as Expobiomasa has evolved since its inception in 2006, the number of high-efficiency biomass installations in Spain has increased from 9,600 in 2008 to 244,197 in 2017. Of these new installations, 90% are pellet stoves. The remainder are biomass boilers for domestic use, with a power output of less than 50 kW (15,755), as well as those for industrial or collective use (11,336) with power outputs of 50 kW or greater.
Ninety percent of exhibitors return to this tailor-made trade fair.
The 180 members of the Association are the true driving force behind the event. And the fair's success is largely due to the collaboration of dozens of business and professional associations, confederations, research centers and universities, energy agencies, embassy trade offices, public administrations, and media outlets.
