
Almost 24,000 high-efficiency biomass stoves and boilers were operating in Castilla-La Mancha at the end of 2018, 21.8% more than the previous year, according to the 2019 Annual Report of the Biomass Observatory managed by the Spanish Association for Energy Valorization. of Biomass (Avebiom).
This increase in technologically advanced biomass installations, which involves the incorporation of more than 4,300 homes and buildings for collective use, places the sector's business volume at 71 million euros
The manufacturing and marketing of the new equipment, as well as the maintenance and sale of solid biofuels, among others, generated an activity that employs 794 people.
Regarding the energy consumed by biomass equipment in Castilla-La Mancha, it amounted to 116.6 KTEP, which has allowed the equivalent savings of almost 136 million liters of diesel in 2018.
The contribution of the sector to the greenhouse gas reduction strategy is also relevant, since the 23,982 biomass equipment installed in the Community avoided the emission of 360,528 tons of CO 2 , similar to the pollution produced during a year by 240,352 passenger cars. , 15.9% of all regional mobile fleet.
