From October 18 to 20, the El Sucre Fairgrounds of the Catalan town of Vic will host the sixth edition of the Fira de Biomassa de Catalunya, a contest already consolidated among professionals in the sector. Among the novelties of the sample, which was born with the objective of promoting synergies and collaboration between companies to generate the growth that the market needs to achieve the objectives in renewable matters set in EurOPA, highlights the creation of the Biogás Hall. This new space, which will also pay attention to purines' treatments, seeks to promote better gas management from renewable resources.
From industrial to residential biomass, including the promotion of bioenergy in sectors such as construction, the fair demonstrates once again the growing importance of the sector in Catalonia. According to data from the Biomass Boiler Observatory of Catalonia, we know that during the period 2012-2015 there were 2,411 installations in Catalonia (181.9 MW of total thermal power). 71% of these were installed in the domestic sector, with the province of Barcelona having the highest number of installations, followed by Lleida, Girona and, finally, the province of Tarragona.
In the regulatory field, the National Pact for the energy transition promoted by Catalonia establishes maximizing the use of indigenous renewable energy sources to achieve a 100% renewable energy model in the long term, achieving an economy not dependent on fossil fuels on the horizon. 2050. Therefore, it is strategic to promote the energy use of biomass, preserving the multifunctionality of forests and their ecological function.
Free entry
Entry to the fair is free and is aimed at all companies linked to the biomass and biogas sector, end consumers (administration technicians, farms and livestock sector, industrialists, institutions, researchers, architects, quantity surveyors, farm managers, etc.) and, finally, also to citizens in general, to promote biomass as a domestic energy source and biogas as an alternative energy in livestock facilities.
In addition to the exhibition space, the Fair will have different parallel activities such as professional meetings, conferences and workshops for all audiences.
