The Spanish Association for the Energy Valorization of Biomass (AVEBIOM) will carry out a series of outreach activities during 2018 for professionals and citizens of Valladolid, the city where Expobiomasa is held, in order to promote the sustainable use of bioenergy in cities.

The purpose is to publicize the state of implementation of bioenergy as another sustainable and renewable energy source, as well as to provide the keys to guide citizens in complying with new legislation and understanding energy market trends regarding this energy source directly related to circular economy, bioeconomy, energy efficiency, environment and climate change policies.

The circular economy is the new economic paradigm in which the raw materials used to create a product can be reused at the end of its useful life to create a new, different product. In other words, the concept of waste disappears, becoming a new resource—in our case, energy. Hundreds of companies have already implemented circular economy policies, redesigning their products and value propositions to ensure profitability both now and in the future.

The aforementioned outreach activities fall within the framework of the grant program awarded by the Valladolid City Council for projects promoting the circular economy in the municipality of Valladolid in 2018, promoted by the Valladolid Agency for Innovation and Economic Development. More than twenty projects were selected, and within this pioneering initiative, the second edition of Circularweekend, another of the selected programs, will be held on May 4th and 5th. Through presentations, workshops, and mentoring, Circularweekend aims to address challenges and launch new projects.
