The latest available European data eur that there are more than 4.6 million pellet stoves in operation and that annual sales exceed 570,000 units. The positive sales trend in Mediterranean countries is particularly noteworthy. Italy has 2.6 million stoves in operation and leads the sales ranking with 180,000 units. France follows, having had 740,000 pellet stoves in operation at the end of 2017, with sales growing by 35% to 144,000 units. In 2017, Spain had 220,000 operational pellet stoves, one for every 1,145 Spaniards. A year later, the estimated number of operational stoves in Spain was almost 270,000 , and sales had increased by 19%.
