The European Network Eur Rural Bioeconomy (BioRural) and the Spanish Biomass Association (AVEBIOM) , which is part of it, have brought together 29 bioeconomy projects, capable of mobilizing 144 million eur in innovation actions, in an exceptional meeting during the first day of the Expobiomasa fair.
These 29 projects, involving more than 250 European entities eur are mobilizing 144 million eur in actions aimed at putting into practice innovations in the biomass sector that will contribute to a greater and faster deployment of bioenergy and the bioeconomy.
Far from becoming a mere exhibition of projects, the event has already led to several meetings being scheduled between initiatives to take advantage of identified synergies, share knowledge, complement their actions in the most efficient way and even create new projects.
Daniel García Galindo, head of projects and innovation at AVEBIOM , says that “the success of this first meeting encourages us to think about new meetings where more collaborations in innovation in biomass, bioenergy and bioeconomy can be established in any field, but especially in those that require more support.”
For four hours, before an attentive audience, discussions focused on rural bioeconomy and how to adopt innovations, as well as on biomass-based energy communities and how to transfer knowledge to countries in the Americas. Small-scale polygeneration and gasification systems were also presented, along with the work of advanced biofuel laboratories. The topics covered included bioproducts, sustainable forest management, and how to modernize the forest biomass supply chain.
