The Hotel Pasarela is the first hotel in Seville to use biomass as an energy source for the production of domestic hot water and heating.
Genesia a Seville-based energy services company , has replaced fossil fuel boilers with two 95 kW automatic biomass boilers, capable of running on wood chips, pellets, or olive pits. The pneumatic feeding system supplies fuel to a 35 m³ silo. The boilers have a nominal efficiency of 94%.
The projected fuel savings are approximately eur12,000 per year, and the investment payback period without subsidies is 8 years. With the improved energy rating, the hotel moves from a "D" to a "B" rating, resulting in a reduction of 98,803 kg CO2 emissions per year.
The energy recovery from this organic waste helps to conserve our environment, creates local jobs, and benefits us with significant economic savings compared to fossil fuels.
