The IDAE allocates more than 68.61 million eurto finance biomass and renewable gas projects

The calls for applications for IDAE aid for investment in thermal and electrical energy production facilities from renewable sources, co-financed with ERDF Funds, are now open in the autonomous communities of Andalusia, Aragon, Principality of Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Extremadura, La Rioja, Madrid, Melilla, Region of Murcia and Valencian Community.

• The application deadlines end in November and December 2020.
• The grants are non-refundable and awarded on a competitive basis.
• Projects and investment actions in facilities that improve management and optimize thermal production and biogas production facilities may be eligible for aid.
• Apart from biomass boilers and biogas installations, cogeneration installations that use organic Rankine cycles (ORC) and new biomass utilization or biogas purification equipment that uses existing treatment or digestion equipment are eligible for subsidies.
• In all biomass projects, the use of 100% renewable biofuel is mandatory. In non-industrial thermal installations of less than 1 MW, the biomass equipment used must demonstrate compliance with the seasonal energy efficiency and emissions requirements established in the Ecodesign Regulation, and the biofuel must be certified to the highest quality according to one of the following standards: UNE-EN-ISO 17225-2 (class A1); UNE-EN-ISO 17225-4 (class 1); 164003 (class A1); or 164004 (class A1).
• The beneficiaries can be natural or legal persons, public or private, that meet the requirements indicated in the regulatory bases, energy service companies and renewable energy communities or energy communities.
• After confirming the beneficiary status and that the project meets the objectives of the call, the evaluation and selection of applications is carried out, which will be first based on an economic criterion, with a relative weighting between 40% and 80% and then applying criteria based on the Just Transition area, according to administrative viability or based on positive externalities with a weighting up to 40%.
