The pellet manufacturer Ecowarm, the first SME to certify the sustainability of biomass with SURE

Ecowarm , a company in Spain and Europe dedicated to the manufacture of wood pellets since 1986, has satisfactorily concluded the Sustainable Resources Verification Scheme (SURE) at the beginning of December 2021. In this way, It joins the list of 50 European companies that have already done so, of which 10 belong to the Spanish groups ENCE and ENSO.

The Ecowarm factory has produced nearly 16,000 tons of pellets this year under the Vagalume brand and also wood briquettes under the Ardeben name. In addition, it is a certified producer and distributor of ENplus® pellets with numbers ES014 and ES 325 respectively; has implemented a digital information processing system to trace the carbon footprint of the entire process to the final consumer and has passed PEFC and FSC audits.

The company, a signatory of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) , remains faithful to its Code of Ethics and Social Responsibility Plan and supplies the factory with by-products and waste from the first processing industry located within a 65-mile radius. km.

The REDII criteria seek to guarantee the sustainability of biomass, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and energy efficiency when used to generate energy.

The SURE system, of which AVEBIOM is the national supporting body, has been designed to certify any operator in the bioenergy sector in Europe: producers of agricultural and forestry biomass, producers of biofuels from byproducts and waste, pellet manufacturers, logistics operators, biofuel marketers or biomass and biogas plants.
