How to Clean Your Ceramic Hob (updated 2020)

You've always heard that ceramic hobs are easier to clean. But is this true? Is there a difference between regular ceramic hobs and induction hobs when it comes to cleaning? What are the best products? Pay attention... Here we explain it with some tips:

How to Clean Your Ceramic Hob, First of All... Water and soap

The ceramic hob should always be cold, both in normal ceramic hobs and induction hobs, except that the latter will cool down faster.

Using a soft sponge is best, and with a little dish soap or Fairy , it's good for our ceramic hob, it softens the most ingrained dirt and removes grease.

Before drying the ceramic hob, and while it is still damp, we take our spatula or scraper , and always pass it from top to bottom in the longest possible strokes.

We've included a Bosch video on how to do it, although we also carry the cleaner they recommend. We've tested it for a while, like the Vitroclen for ceramic hobs, and we have to say we absolutely do not recommend it.

They contain a very fine, sand-like polishing agent that's not good for the glass-ceramic and dulls its color, especially if the Vitroclen for a while. On the other hand, we're very happy with Cerafix, even though it's harder to find.

Okay, let's get to the video:

Okay, once we've used the spatula, we proceed to clean the residue removed by the scraper with a damp cloth or chamois and dry it.

The good part comes now:

Following our recommendation and experience, we put a drop of Cerafix on each burner, then use a dry cloth or paper towel to rub it in. There's no other secret, we know... we don't enjoy it as much as cooking, but it's not magic 🙂

Anyway, if the ceramic hob is really bad after scraping, especially around the burner lines, we can use Stahl Fix . Yes! I know, it says it's a stainless steel cleaner... but don't worry, this way you kill two birds with one stone.

We've tried it and use it often, and it's great because it's a bit more aggressive than Cerafix . Even so, whether you use Stahlfix or not, we always finish with Cerafix, cleaning and rubbing it in circles. Important: after using the cleaner, never wash or rinse the ceramic hob. The natural silicones in Cerafix leave a spectacular shine and prevent dirt from sticking so easily next time. And that's it... How to Clean Your Ceramic Hob. We hope you found it helpful.

For now… The rubbing isn't going to stop 🙂
