According to the newsletter of the Austrian Commercial Office in Madrid, the El Lagar de Isilla wine tourism complex, located in the town of La Vid - 18 km from Aranda de Duero - and integrated into the Ribera del Duero DO, has a biomass installation that uses a Herz boiler, 150kW Firematic model.
The biomass boiler, which was installed in 2013 and runs on pellets, supplies domestic hot water and heating-air conditioning to the different buildings that make up the wine tourism complex: winery, hotel, restaurant and dome. Roberto Barcenillas (Calor Natural) was in charge of the installation, and according to the same installer, the annual consumption of this boiler is between 50 and 60 tons of pellets per year.
The benefits of biomass in the wine sector are a fact, and the technology made in Austria in this sector of activity is a reality. In this sense, the Herz biomass facilities, represented in Spain, Andorra and Portugal by Termosun Energías, are already present in such well-known and relevant wine-growing areas of the Spanish territory as Catalonia, the Basque Country, La Rioja and Castilla y León.
The El Lagar de Isilla facility is an emblematic project, developed in a complex built on a colonial-style farm from 1890. The winery is integrated into the old buildings of the farm and consists of production halls, a barrel room for aging, bottling, dormitory bottle rack and social building with offices, store and two tasting rooms.
The complex also has a 4-star boutique hotel with 22 rooms, all of them different and themed; the Casona de la Vid restaurant and a patio-dome.
