Biollano joins the renewable generation plants with certification of its biomass through the Sure standard

Biollano adds to the renewable generation plants with certification of their biomass by means

Ence 's renewable energy generation plant in Puertollano, Biollano, has recently completed the audit process of the Sure verification scheme, which guarantees the sustainability of the generation process from sustainable biomass sources, which are also evaluated. This is local biomass consisting mainly of plant remains from crops such as vines or olive trees, fruit trees, and pruning remains from surrounding parks and gardens.

In this way, the company's biomass renewable plant plant in Puertollano has validated its adaptation pioneer in the sector to the sustainability requirements of the Renewable Energy Directive (EU) 2018/2001 (REDII), a regulation eurOPEA that establishes various criteria that must meet all the biomass used in the bioenergy sector, focused on guaranteeing its sustainability, a correct one mass balance, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and energy efficiency.

It is another step within the Ence commitment to the sustainability of the biomass it manages. The Ence Biofabrica in Pontevedra and Navia and the company generation plants with the company's biomass in Huelva, Mérida, Jaén and Ciudad Real, have previously obtained this certification, turning Ence into the first EurOPA company to initiate the verification of the sustainability of its productive energy process with biomass by this standard.

Ceganizer has been the entity responsible for auditing the process, since it is the only Spanish company recognized and authorized by the southern scheme to perform this service. The development of certification audits had the express recognition of the verifier, which highlighted the high degree of implementation of the reference standard by Port Puertollano, the capacity to anticipate the energy complex to the new Eur OPEA directive, even complying with some requirements before its publication, and the sector leadership developed by Ence during the entire process.

Having already reached the milestone of certifying its own biomass and direct purchase, the company has begun to deploy an Advisory and Collaboration Plan with all the suppliers of the Puertollano plant, with the aim of ensuring that all agricultural, forestry and industrial biomass that supply the plants acquire this certification. To this end, work is already underway to launch training, implementation and certification tasks for the entire chain of collaborators.

The company is again at the forefront of the sustainability of biomass as Important EurOPA environmental organizations.

Ence is the first Spanish company in the production of renewable energy with agroforestry biomass. It has a total generation capacity of 266 MW in its independent power plants, to which are added 112 MW from its pulp biofactories. Biomass is a renewable and manageable energy source, which has great development potential in Spain. In addition, it has great environmental advantages, reducing emissions and contributing to the transition towards a low-carbon energy model, in addition to generating employment and activity in rural areas.
