The Spanish Biomass Energy Valuation Association ( AVEBIOM ) will maintain its representation in the eur OPEA Association of the Sector (AEBIOM), after the re -election of its representative as 'Board Director' in the highest management body of the entity. The Avebiom representative, Pablo Rodero Masdemont, has been one of the eight directors chosen for a new two -year mandate among the 14 candidates who presented themselves.
Avebiom defends the implementation of carbon footprint control systems in the facilities of more than 20MW, which represent 75% of biomass consumption, as contemplated by the new sustainability directive, currently in the process of debate in the Parliament EurOpeo. In this sense, Avebiom advocates a percentage of reduction in greenhouse gas emissions greater than 70% initially set by Parliament EurOpeo, on January 17, for facilities that begin to operate from January 1, 2021.
Furthermore, among other measures, Avebiom promotes the implementation of a specific tax on CO2 emissions, in order to effectively contribute to alleviating the causes that generate the 'greenhouse effect'.
According to Rodero Masdemont, a good part of his work as a Spanish representative in Aebiom, in this new period, will focus on the formulation of allegations and comments on the directives in the process of being drafted, such as those on 'clean energies'; that is, the energy efficiency directives (EED) and the one that is being developed specifically for buildings (EPBD).
