avebiom launches the first certified biomass installer seal 62c09c8fa4c13

The Spanish Association for the Energy Valorization of Biomass (Avebiom) has joined the trend in most EU countries to guarantee the quality of biomass installation companies and has launched the first 'Certified Biomass Installer' (IBC) seal. "This is a mark that guarantees the quality and specialization of companies in the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of biomass heating systems," explained Avebiom President Javier Díaz.

“The goal is to offer customers guarantees of quality and control of the facilities and to differentiate in the market those companies that carry out their work professionally,” said the president of Avebiom during the presentation of this seal, which took place today at the headquarters of the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE).

Furthermore, he indicated that this seal will involve the implementation of a register of certified companies, which will be available to users, with the possibility of measuring customer satisfaction through a direct evaluation system.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Industry, there are more than 30,000 companies in Spain qualified to carry out thermal installations in buildings (RITE). According to estimates from the National Biomass Observatory, managed by Avebiom since 2009, 27% of these companies have operated biomass equipment at least once.

In 2017, there were approximately 250,000 biomass installations for heating, according to data from Avebiom. Most of these are small-scale units, such as stoves and boilers under 50 kW, for domestic heating.

The seal has been launched in collaboration with the Construction Institute of Castilla y León (ICCL), which acts as a certification body throughout the national territory.

To obtain the seal, installers must meet a series of requirements defined in the 'Quality Charter' regarding their organization, degree of specialization, proven experience, service provision conditions, customer response, availability of qualified technical personnel and available material resources.

This 'Quality Charter' includes, among other requirements, the commitment to inform the client of the ideal conditions under which the installation and maintenance should be carried out, as well as to advise on choosing the most efficient technical solution; and the obligation to deliver a detailed invoice in accordance with the approved budget.

To obtain certification, the company must have technical staff with proven experience and be registered in the regional register of installation companies.
