The Alcalá de Henares City Council and the company Alcalá District Heating have signed and presented the renewable energy project 'Alcalá Eco Energías', an urban heat network for the distribution of heating and domestic hot water, whose energy is obtained from renewable sources such as biomass and concentrated solar power.
The project aims to transform Alcalá's energy model in the medium term through the use of solar panels and district heating, thus supplying the city with renewable energy. This will be made possible by concentrated solar thermal technology supported by a biomass power plant.
Its use could potentially reach 12,000 homes in the city, as well as numerous businesses, and will result in a considerable reduction in energy bills. Those who wish to join or consider it beneficial can do so.
The event was attended by the mayor, Javier Rodríguez Palacios, the first deputy mayor and councillor for Heritage, Olga García, the councillor for the Environment, Alberto Egido, and the General Manager of Alcalá District Heating, Teo López, who expressed their satisfaction with the signing of this agreement for the city.
