Biomass:
Since the last Expobiomasa in 2015, thermal biomass in Spain has broken records in the number of stoves and boilers installed. Even with last year's low heating oil prices, biomass is much more competitive. The number of installed units, which are also becoming increasingly efficient and innovative, has grown by 56% during this period, boosting a business that now amounts to eur , representing 0.34% of GDP.

The use of biomass as a source of thermal energy prevented the emission of 121,955 tons of CO2 in the province of Valladolid in 2016, equivalent to the carbon dioxide generated by 81,303 vehicles in a year, thus contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gases in Spain. In Castile and León, the figure reaches 859,156 tons of CO2, equivalent to the carbon dioxide of 572,769 vehicles.

According to data from the Biomass Observatory, Castilla y León had 31,138 biomass installations at the end of 2016, 5,769 more than the previous year (22.8%), with an installed capacity of almost 1.4 million KW.
