The international trade fair specializing in biomass technology, held annually in Valladolid, closed its 10th edition on September 24th, with a final count of 15,041 visitors. This figure is lower than last year's and falls short of the target set by the Spanish Association for the Energy Valorization of Biomass (AVEBIOM), the event's organizer, when it announced the fair.

For AVEBIOM, the drop in visitor numbers compared to previous editions translated into a more specialized and better-informed visitor profile, a factor with a clear impact on the fair's further professionalization, albeit with fewer attendees. The organizers interpret this as a rise in the professional profile of the participants, while overall participation has declined.

In any case, and despite the decline in relation to expectations, Expobiomasa consolidates itself as the professional event that occupies a prominent place in the ranking of the 5 best trade fairs in the sector worldwide, as it has been categorized on more than one occasion by AEBIOM (EurBiomass Association).

However, AVEBIOM considers the decline in visitors a negative and clearly improvable fact, so the Expobiomasa team is considering the need to reconsider some aspects of its strategy, as well as intensify certain actions aimed at attracting professionals, for future editions.

Portugal: the guest country and most represented.
70% of the professionals attending Expobiomasa came from outside Castile and León, while within the region, the province of Valladolid alone accounted for 13.8% of visitors. As this is a trade fair highly geared towards professionals, the participation of visitors from Castile and León has fallen by half compared to last year, while professionals from the sector from other autonomous communities have increased by 3%, and international presence has risen by 15% compared to the previous edition. In 2015, Expobiomasa registered professionals from 32 countries, 5% of whom came from Portugal, the guest country at this year's event.

Regarding the impact of the event in Valladolid, the hotel sector once again hung the 'Full' sign, another year, even bringing forward the celebration of the event by a month, a decision that avoided coinciding with other events in the city.

Exhibitor Occupancy and Participation:
