The Spanish partners EREN and Escan promote the use of biomass in buildings and homes, replacing fossil fuels . Through the collaboration of the Working Group created in the project, environmentally friendly facilities are being developed in Castilla y León and other regions. The manufacturer Hargassner, as a member of the GT, has installed heating and hot water systems, replacing old diesel systems, achieving savings of 60% in the case of pellets and close to 80% with chips . The boilers are multi-fuel, accepting other types by changing a parameter in their touch-tronic.
Escan monitors the entire process and incorporates specific labels in buildings and boiler rooms that meet efficiency and low pollution objectives . The latest verification visits present two 120 kW installations to heat a town hall and a museum building. Another installation with two boilers of 150 kW each for five buildings in the same town. Another town with two 220 kW units with a buried wood chip silo that heats a daycare center, nursery school, civic center and town hall. Replacing heating oil with pellets and chips presents high energy and economic savings within the objectives of the REPLACE project.
The European Replace project facilitates aid for biomass installations
The Replace project encourages the replacement of old heating and domestic hot water systems powered by fossil fuels with other more modern and environmentally friendly systems , such as the example of the biomass.
The Regional Energy Entity of Castilla y León EREN, with the support of Escan Consultores Energéticas, as partners of the Replace project, led this initiative in Castilla y León, promoting public subsidies from the Government of Castilla y León for biomass installations in the residential sector.
